About — MASSAGE at Blue Sky (1)

Our Mission
Massage at Blue Sky is a group of bodyworkers who strive to create a safer and welcoming place for healing.

Cal is a very compassionate individual with a great deal of knowledge regarding massage therapy. They listen very carefully and are very entuned to what the patient is needing before proceeding and explains what they will be doing before starting each session.
— J.W.

“Cal is a skilled, gifted, incredibly kind, and intuitive practitioner. They’ve helped me recover from acute injury as well as the regular life stress that builds up so easily in my body. Most recently, they were instrumental in helping me work through the effects of whiplash in my neck and back, using neural manipulation.”
— N.G.

Cal is a genderqueer European settler who has practiced as a bodyworker and movement educator since 2008.

They received their massage license from NM Academy of Healing Arts in 2013. Cal uses the framework of medical massage (goal and results oriented massage) and techniques from:

  • Myofascial release

  • Swedish massage

  • Russian sports massage

  • Neural Manipulation

  • Neuro-muscular therapy

  • Reflexology

  • as well as trauma informed, healing - focused consent practices.

Their consistent study is focused on the release of the human form from social patterning through massage therapy and anatomy literacy. They operate under the core knowing that we are all in community together, and are better when we seek and receive trusted care with each other.

You are the expert of your own body, it’s Cal’s work to learn and share tools to-when needed-facilitate ways for you to enjoy functionally moving within it.

Sessions involve a deep intake of questions and goal discussion with you, followed by collaborative, communicative table time.

Paths informing Cal’s practice:

Cal is informedmainly by the threads of questions coursing through them, by their evolving understanding of social power and systemic influences on our bodies, changes in their own embodiment, long distances of sports training, the desire for the body to balance, as well as the gifted connections and necessity of ongoing repair work as an occupier on Tiwa and Pueblo land.

Cal holds deep gratitude for the work they’ve received from multiple somatic practitioners, as well as the instructors, community organizers, and each person who has shared trust and session time.

Ongoing chapters of study:
Structural Integration
Herbal Medicine
Neural Manipulation: 72 hour intensive training with the Barral Institute

Could YOU be the next bodyworker to join our Blue Sky community?

Although trained as a chiropractor, Dr. Blair has spent hundreds of hours in continuing education learning techniques to help bodies who may not respond to a “one size fits all” approach. She loves to work with chronic and stubborn pain patterns.

Initial Visit (60-90 minutes):

Comprehensive history, orthopedic tests, checking for compensation patterns, gentle adjusting and precise bodywork. A plan of action based on your goals, movement patterns, and compensations.

Follow Up Visits (30 - 60 minutes):

A combination of bodywork and movement education. The goal is to replace chronic tension with relaxed stability. We’ll unwind hidden tension patterns and then teach you how to build back your function. Most patients see improvement in a few visits.

==

From there you can decide how often you want to come in for a tune-up. Some folks enjoy monthly visits, others come in every few years. We are happy to give you as much guidance as you require, but you are the decision maker in the frequency of your care.

“My experience with Dr. Blair was one of great healing and nourishment of the body. Her evaluation and insight were much beyond the chiropractic experiences I have had. She reviews your medical history and current issues.

She collects information on how you use your body by watching you move. And, she uses her own depth of knowledge and intuition to guide her work and provide recommendations for your healing.

She provides simple homework that takes 5 minutes or less that allows your body and mind to release and remember. Really effective and mind boggling. Her adjustments are calming and remarkable.

This is the best work with a healing practitioner that I have ever experienced. Dr. Blair is a gifted healer and chiropractor. Thank you Emily!!!”
